A personal note from his wife, Catherine Montgomery-Malone:
My precious and beautiful husband has gone to live with Jesus. I can only imagine how he must be now that he is finally in the presence of the Lord, who Greg loved and adored so much. I can imagine him up in Heaven hugging everyone with the huge love that he held in his heart. I can only imagine him with his once again strong arms wrapped around those that had gone before him. I can see him laughing and smiling, and I can hear him laughing that most boisterous laugh that he constantly laughed while here on earth. I can imagine his eyes twinkling with excitement while meeting Jesus and Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, David, Moses, Paul and so many others that Greg loved reading about in the Bible. I can only imagine the excitement he had upon seeing his mother and the others he knew here on earth that have been blessed to go to Heaven before him. Greg had a true heart for God. The most true love for his Heavenly Father. He worried so often that he was not doing enough to make himself worthy of God. He wanted to make God so proud of him and to serve him as fully as he could. His motto was that he wanted to reach just one more for Jesus. He strived to do that every single day. If you are reading this, and you had just met Greg in the past 11 years, he probably asked you very early in that first conversation if you were a follower of Christ. When I first heard him doing that, I was worried that he might offend someone. But Greg wanted to know, had to know, if everyone he met, even out in public places with strangers, if they were followers of Christ. If they said no, he would tell them about God's love and then encourage them to start reading the Bible, starting with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Greg gave his heart to Jesus on Easter Sunday in 2010, and a fire for God's love was lit and to Greg it was the most amazing experience for him. Every morning, when Greg first woke up, he would go start the coffee pot, then he would head back to his office while it was brewing. He would say the Lord's prayer and more, and then he would read his Bible. He did this first thing, even before pouring a cup of coffee, because he told me that he was scared if he didn't that he might get busy doing something else and forget to read his Bible for the day. He loved, loved his worship music and I could hear him singing and praising God back in his office often, or in his truck while we were driving someplace. His life, his heart, were devoted to God first. This love for God spilled over into the absolutely incredible and beautiful love he held for me. He was the most amazing husband any woman could ever hope, wish or pray for. I was most truly honored and blessed to be his wife on earth, and I look forward to spending an eternity in Heaven with my precious husband. I am forever his. He absolutely loved my daughter as his own, and no doubt he has talked to many of you and mentioned his daughter Alexis. He did not like calling her his “stepdaughter" because his love for her was so great, and she loved him just as much. Most everyone loved Greg! Those that didn't love him, didn't love themselves I believe. You couldn't help but love his love for Jesus, his love for his family and friends, his beautiful patriotism and love for his country and his love for golf. He was so proud of the success of his Shop Texas Farms FB group to help small farmers and ranchers connect with their local buyers. He did that for free, expecting nothing in return. He just wanted to help people. He received so much joy from the group. My words about this most beautiful man could go on forever. He was my ever stuff, my best friend in the whole world, my husband. His desire for all is to accept Jesus into their heart and to know God's love. I love you Greg Malone. I love you so very much.
