Thresa Matthews

Thresa Diane Spence Matthews passed away on August 26^th at 9 pm after a long battle with peritoneal cancer. 

Born on May 15^th, 1961, to Roy and Delois Spence of Emory, Tx, Thresa is survived by her daughter Alex Matthews, her parents, her sister, Aleta Wells, and younger brother Keith Spence – as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.   She was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Spence. 

Thresa graduated A&M at Commerce as Salutatorian in 1995, enjoyed being active in local and state politics, and worked as the office manager for United Construction until her retirement.  She loved to tell ghost stories, eat food cooked over an open flame, and made the best fudge any of us had ever tasted. 

She had a goofy sense of humor, played classical guitar, and laughed with her whole body.  

She was a lifetime learner, a devout Christian, a dedicated mother, and a bright light who left us too soon. 

Services will be held Tuesday, September 5^th at 1:00 pm. At the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home in Emory, Texas.
