Tammy Young

d. December 8, 2021

Tammy Young, born Tammy McQueen, was a very kind and gentle soul. She was a graduate of Monterey High School in Lubbock, TX class of '84. She was first married to Freddie Salinas, and had three boys. She was a strong-willed woman who was able to raise three Rowdy boys, all while going to nursing school to achieve her goal of being a nurse to care for newly born children. In fact, she was so strong she took on the task in helping the love of her life and soul mate West Young to bring up his two boys as well. Before she knew it, she was the Mother to five boys! She was so happy to claim that honor! She has always been a woman devoted to her family in any aspect of life, whether it was helping to book appointments at the doctor's office for her adult children or delving into her ancestry to discover what legacy we are following. Little did she know, she would be leaving a beautiful legacy of her own.

To talk more on her career, she started her career in Greenville, TX as an LVN on the labor and delivery floor. There she met some lifelong friends who help mold her into one of the finest registered nurses. She was working most recently in Longview, TX as a registered nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She has spent her adult life caring for children, and not just her children at work, but the children and grandchildren she cared for at home too. She has had a lasting impression on all of us! She was a selfless woman in the fact that she would go out of her way to make sure other people were happy and successful, something I'm sure we all hope to take from her and learn. She spent her nights working, and her days off either seeing family, being on video chat with her beautiful grandchildren, or loving and taking care of her husband and best friend West. To many she was Nurse Young, to some she was momo Tam, to some she was mom, to some she was the daughter Tammy, and to one she was Tamika, the 2nd and final piece to West's puzzle. She has gone home to be reunited with her brother Donnie and father Lee Roy, whom she loved with a burning passion beyond words.

She is survived by her husband West Young; ex-husband and father of her biological children, Sigi Fredo Jr. (Freddie) Salinas; mother, Stella Miller; stepfather, Roger Miller; mother-in-law, Judy Palmer; father-in-law, Jim Palmer; sons, Sigi Fredo III (Trey) Salinas and wife Tiffany, Dustin (Dusty) Salinas and wife Caitlin, Jo-el (Joey) Salinas; stepsons, Abe Young, Eli Young; grandchildren, Dayana Salinas, Landon Salinas, Bryce Salinas, Dawnie Salinas, Evangeline Salinas, and Mateo Salinas.

Tammy is Preceded in death by her father, Lee Roy McQueen and brother, Donny McQueen.
