Throughout his life, Richard was known for his joyful spirit and vibrant personality. He was a jokester who had an ability to bring humor into every situation, often seen by family as stubborn, impatient and an aggravator by those close to him. His loving and kind nature endeared him to family and friends alike. Richard's family fondly remembers him as a man who loved unconditionally, a trait that stood out as their favorite aspect of his character.
Richard’s proudest accomplishments centered around his wife, Linda Burks, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage, having married on September 25, 1964. He cherished the memories made with her over the decades, including their children and grandchildren. He was able to officiate the wedding of Amber and Chris, something they will always hold dear. The family often gathered during holidays, and fond memories include playing corn hole at Easter, highlighting the joy that Richard brought to these gatherings.
A life also filled with playfulness, Richard enjoyed hobbies such as playing dominoes, poker, and indulging in the thrill of lottery and gambling.
Richard's humor was not just limited to family activities; he also famously delivered a memorable "no deposit, no return" guarantee when Mr. Perry asked for Eva's hand in marriage, showcasing his unique blend of humor and wisdom.
He is survived by his children, Eva Sharp and husband Perry Sharp of Emory, TX, Dorothy Wilson and husband Bobby Wilson of Emory, Tx, Judy Wood and Husband Chad Wood of West Tawakoni , TX, Wanda Milsap of Paris, Tx, Richard Burks Jr and wife Donna Burks of Wichita, Ks, Kenneth Burks and wife Tina Burks of Wylie, Tx, as well as 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Richard is preceded and reunited with his loving and faithful wife, Linda Burks; mother, Willie Burks; father, Oren Burks; brothers, Bobby Burks, Charles Burks, Raymond Canada and his great grandson, Joseph Hulsey.
He leaves behind a loving legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Richard Oren Burks will be remembered for his infectious laughter, kind heart, and the unconditional love he shared with his family.
