Rance Byrd Gowin, a man of many talents, passed away at the age of 48.  Born on January 11, 1975, in Greenville, Texas to Pryor Gowin and Kathryn Harvey Gowin.  Rance was a loving father, brother, son, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought joy to the lives of all who knew him.  His untimely departure on July 3, 2023, at Mountianview Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada has left a void that will be deeply felt by his surviving family members, friends, and the community he touched.

Rance’s career started with different trades, eventually landing him in the plastics industry.  Starting at Rubermaid and then Airborn for many years.  He became an expert in Fanuc Roboshot Milacron injection molding machines and was very sought after in the industry.  He traveled internationally to support his customers' needs.

Rance had an undying love for an ice-cold Dr. Pepper, softball, Marvel movies, firearms and of course watching The Simpsons.  In his pastime, he enjoyed riding trails on his side by side and mudding.  Above all, he loved spending time with friends and family.

Rance took immense pride in his daughter Shayla Marie Gowin and found joy watching her grow into the woman she is today.  He was her biggest supporter throughout her life’s journey, encouraging her to keep going and not give up.  He provided the guidance she needed to navigate life’s challenges.

One aspect of Rance’s life that was truly defined was when he became “Big Daddy” to his granddaughters, Serenity Michelle, Anna Faye, and Reva Joy.  They brought him happiness and warmth that he cherished with all his heart, as well as Spaz, his faithful companion.

Rance’s special cousins Angie and Lorie shared many cherished memories together.  Sam, technically a cousin, grew up with Rance like a brother.  They were very close their whole lives.  Doug and Sherree Latham, dear friends, with whom he shared an unyielding bond and saw each other through many good and bad times.  Rance held a place in his heart for the class of ‘93 and his Airborn family, Joni, Chuck, Kurtis and Marcie.

Rance is survived by his loving father Pryor Gowin, brother Shane Gowin and wife Carol, and brother Greg Gowin.  Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Step grandchildren Zander, Jameson, and Isabella and extended family Carlie and Ashley Latham.

Rance was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Vera Kathryn ‘Harvey’ Gowin and his sister Shalla Elaine Gowin.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, may we find solace in our memories of Rance.  Let us celebrate the everlasting imprint he has left upon our hearts and honor his life by embodying the qualities he so effortlessly exemplified empathy, kindness, and unconditional love.  He will forever be missed, but never forgotten.

A private family gathering will be held for Rance at a later date.
