Mary Catherine Bray

Mary Catherine Bray, a beloved wife, aunt, cousin, friend, and devoted follower of the Lord, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, in Carrollton, Texas, at the age of 91.   She was born on June 24, 1934, to William Jesse Jones and Berlie Mae Johnston Jones in Gadsden, Alabama. 

Mary Catherine lived a life filled with love, faith, and cherished memories.  Mary’s personality radiated kindness and warmth, defining her interactions with those fortunate enough to know her. Her love for the Lord was a central part of her life, guiding her thoughts and actions. She treasured her time at home, creating an oasis of comfort filled with love and laughter. An avid gardener, Mary found joy in gardening, particularly her exquisite daylilies and irises, which were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. Additionally, she engaged in ceramics, an art form that allowed her to express her creativity and share her talents with others. Mary loved watching old westerns and Alabama football. Throughout her life, Mary’s journey took her to various places, including Hawaii, Texas, and Alabama, influenced by the military service of her late husband, Jerry, who served proudly in the Marines. 

These experiences enriched her life and broadened her horizons, instilling in her a deep appreciation for the beautiful tapestry of cultures and experiences around her.  Mary Catherine Bray will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for family and friends, and her beautiful spirit, which touched the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of joy and devotion that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of crossing her path.

She is survived by her nephew, Andrew Simmons and wife Deborah; niece, Loretta Spear; cousin, Mona Jackson and husband Paul; great nieces, Rebekah Simmons Cox, Hannah Simmons Morgan; great nephews, Nathan Bradford, Michael Bradford, Christina Bradford; great-great niece, Sarah Morgan.

Mary Catherine is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jerry Bray; parents, Jesse and Berlie Jones; sister, Nancy Simmons; brother, Glenn Jones.
