Mark Goldsmith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on May 29, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on December 18, 1962 to Billy Joe and Eloise Goldsmith in Sulphur Springs, Texas, Mark was a kind-hearted soul who embraced every moment of life and cherished those around him.
A dedicated dairy farmer, Mark had a love for his cows and a passion for the land he worked. He could often be found tending to his animals, embodying the spirit of hard work and devotion. In addition to his farming, he also worked as a forklift driver and served as the hardware clerk at Hooten's, where his laughter and engaging personality made him a favorite among customers and co-workers alike.
Mark’s warmth and kindness were evident in every interaction; he was a true people person who loved to tease and playfully aggravate those he cared for, always striving to bring a smile to their faces. He had a rare ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger and often going out of his way to lend a helping hand.
Education was important to Mark, and he proudly graduated from Sulphur Springs High School. However, his greatest lessons came from life experience, particularly in his most important role as a father and grandfather. Mark took immense pride in how he raised his children and in the amazing individuals they have become. They were his greatest accomplishment, and nothing brought him more joy than being called "Pops," a title he cherished deeply.
For 40 years, Mark shared his life with his loving wife, Melissa Goldsmith. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and friendship, filled with laughter, support, and countless cherished memories. Together, they navigated the many seasons of life.
Mark is survived by his faithful wife, Melissa Goldsmith; children, Mark Shipman Jr. and wife, Kelsey; Carlton Goldsmith and Allyson; grandchildren, Brenden Goldsmith, Eve Shipman and Irelynn Goldsmith who will be making her arrival soon; siblings, Kathy Goldsmith and Billy Lynn Goldsmith; sister-in-law, Michele Kearney Kanooth. Mark is also remembered and survived by numerous friends and his church family at Miracle Faith Baptist Church in Emory.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Billy Joe and Eloise Goldsmith; nephew, Micah Swanson; uncle Randy Cole and many other uncles; brother-in-law Bobby Ray Kearney Jr.; Cousin, Jimmy Don Goldsmith and father-in-law, L. Thomas Scarborough Jr.
Mark Goldsmith leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and unyielding strength. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit and the values he instilled in his family will continue to shine brightly in their hearts.
