Lyn M. Baldwin (née Anderegg), a devoted educator, community leader, and cherished wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 6, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. She was 80 years old. Born on June 27, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Lyn spent her early years cultivating a love of learning that would shape her life’s work. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1963 and went on to earn both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from the University of Louisville. Lyn began her teaching career at the remarkable age of 19 and went on to teach in public and private schools across Kentucky, Alabama, Kansas, and Texas. Her passion for education was most evident in her dedication to middle school students—a group she found both challenging and deeply rewarding. Her vibrant classroom presence and creative teaching style left a lasting impression on countless students over the decades. Her excellence in education was recognized when she was named Teacher of the Year in Topeka, Kansas, and Teacher of the Year Team Member for the state of Kansas in 1996. Even after retirement, Lyn remained connected with many former students through Facebook, continuing to inspire and encourage them.

In 2001, Lyn and her husband Bill Baldwin moved to Yantis, Texas. There she poured her energy into building community connections and enriching the lives of those around her. She joined the Lake Fork Neighbors Club and quickly became an active member. Her commitment to service extended further when she led the revitalization of the Rains County Library and with the remodeling of the Meadows Room—an innovative space used for various community events including a regional high school art show and contest that Lyn spearheaded and loved. Perhaps one of her proudest accomplishments was co-founding the local chapter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Through this initiative, Lyn helped bring the joy of reading to children under five years old across the region. For her tireless efforts and unwavering dedication to community enrichment, she was honored as Rains County Citizen of the Year.

Lyn’s creativity also found expression through quilting—her favorite hobby. She lovingly crafted quilts and wall hangings for many friends and family members. In tribute to her artistry and warmth, guests attending her service are encouraged to bring any quilt or wall hanging she made for them to be displayed on the pews.

Lyn is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Bill Baldwin of Yantis, Texas; sisters Lori Anderegg Fallon (Ron) of Mobile, Alabama, and Amy Anderegg O’Reilly (Kevin) of Belleville, Ohio; brother-in-law Robert L. Baldwin of Louisville, Kentucky; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Saura (Zachary) of Richland Hills, Texas; nieces Erin Fallon Slaby (Bob) of Daphne, Alabama; Katie Fallon Taylor (Janson) of Wimberley, Texas; Maggie O’Reilly (Chris Waldron) of Plain City, Ohio; nephew Keegan O’Reilly of New Orleans, Louisiana; and great-nephew Jonathon Slaby of Daphne, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest R. Anderegg Jr. and Marjorie (Shotts) Anderegg; and by her son Jeremy R. Baldwin.

Lyn lived a joyful life filled with purpose and compassion. Her legacy endures through the lives she touched—as a teacher who inspired learning, a neighbor who built community, an artist who stitched love into every quilt, and a woman whose kindness knew no bounds. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Rosary will be held on October 30, 2025, at 05:00 PM at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church 515 East FM 2795. Emory, Texas.
