IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorraine Bernice
Dougherty
December 26, 1937 – February 15, 2026
Lorraine Bernice Dougherty, a cherished mother, grandmother, and devoted friend, left this world on February 15, 2026, at the age of 88 at her home in Cumby, Texas. Born on December 26, 1937, to Sigmund and Hedwig Olesiewicz in Camden, New Jersey, Lorraine spent her life dedicated to caring for others, embodying the spirit of generosity and kindness that she is remembered for by all who knew her.
For over 30 years, Lorraine worked as a nurse, giving to those in need. Her passion for her profession was matched only by her love for her family. Even when her health prevented her from continuing her nursing career, Lorraine found ways to show her love and support to those around her. She remained active in her community, giving to charities and always seeking to uplift others with thoughtful gestures. Whether lending an ear or crafting heartfelt gifts, her unwavering spirit of service was evident in every action.
Lorraine was known for her spunky humor and candid honesty. She possessed a no-nonsense attitude and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, when necessary, always tempered with affection and warmth. Friends and family often laughed at her quick wit, which brought joy and lightness to any occasion.
She loved to celebrate her birthday, which she would spend at Bone Fish Grill in Allen, Texas. There, she would indulge in an espresso martini and the BangBang shrimp—an occasion that was always filled with laughter and love.
Lorraine held deep faith as a servant of God and was an active member of Emory Baptist Church. She was baptized on December 22, 2024, solidifying her belief and commitment to her church community. Through her involvement, she contributed to many initiatives, including Operation Christmas Child, embodying her mission to spread love and joy to others.
In her leisure time, Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, a hobby that allowed her to create beautiful pieces and gifts for loved ones. She had a special fondness for playing the lottery, making regular trips to Brookshire every Monday to purchase her lottery tickets, hoping for that chance at a little luck.
Lorraine’s proudest accomplishments were her wonderful family and her career as a nurse, which allowed her to touch countless lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering compassion that will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her son, Skip and daughter-in-law, Sandra; granddaughters, Kayla Brantley and Alyssa Chapman.
Lorraine is reunited in death with her husband of 50 years, Walter H. Dougherty; parents, Sigmund Olesiewicz and Hedwig Olesiewicz (Stypinski); sister, Joanne Wypych and brother, Ron.
As we remember Lorraine Bernice Dougherty, a true beacon of light, let us celebrate the remarkable life she led and the many hearts she touched along the way. Her memory will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her spirit will live on in the acts of kindness she fostered in others.
