Linda Burks, a beloved wife, devoted mother, and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 8, 1947, in Grapevine, Texas, Linda was a firecracker of a woman whose energetic approach to life touched everyone that she met.
She was the embodiment of warmth and joy. She married the love of her life, Richard Burks Sr., September 25, 1964. They spent sixty wonderful years building a life together. Her husband believed that she was the most perfect woman he had ever met, a testament to the love and admiration she inspired in him.
Linda was a devoted mother of six amazing children, she called them her proudest accomplishments. She took great pride in nurturing them and creating joyful memories that would last a lifetime.
She would spend afternoon’s fixing her daughter's hair to resemble the glamorous Loretta Lynn, encouraging them to sing and dance with all the spirit they could muster. She was also known for her cooking, it was raved the best in town by her family and friends, her kitchen was a sanctuary where meals were crafted with love and laughter shared around a table.
Linda was an avid music lover, she could clear a dance floor with her energy and charm, leaving others in her dust. She was a pro at card games, particularly Skip-Bo, where she showed her competitive spirit and strategic mind.
She dedicated her days as a hardworking laundry aid at a nursing home and would teach Sunday school at her church, Rock Hill Pentecostal. She approached every task with the same love she poured into her home.
Linda carried a strong faith that anchored her. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she cared for others; she never ceased praying for those around her.
She was blessed to spend the last eight years being cared for by her daughter Judy Wood and granddaughter Kellie Wood.
Linda is survived by her husband, Richard Burks Sr. of West Tawakoni, Texas; daughters Eva Sharp and husband Perry Sharp of Point, Texas, Dorothy Wilson and husband Bobby Wilson of Emory, Texas, Judy Wood and husband Chad Wood of West Tawakoni, Texas; son Richard Burks Jr. and wife Donna Burks of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Wanda Millsap of Paris, Texas; son, Kenneth Burks and wife Tina Burks of Wylie, Texas. The family wishes to express how we are eternally grateful to Judy and Kellie for selflessly caring for Mama and for Kellie putting her life on hold to help care for her. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
