"Oh, Lord, it is good to be able to fly." – prayer of the 99s

It is with a sad heart that I share with you the passing of my mother, Judi Cobb. She passed quietly in her sleep, March 15, 2026, at home in Mineola.

Judi, 79, had been experiencing issues with her breathing since returning from a trip, Prague to Paris. Her recovery was slow but improved. Recently the weather and air quality exacerbated her condition. Her daughter, Marianne, went to check on her Saturday night and said, “I could not have been more grateful for those precious hours. I had the chance to talk to her about an upcoming trip, and as I left her comfy with her kitty and a good show, I am grateful I got to tell her, "I Love You".

Born December 26, 1946, Judith Evelyn Bonzi was an incredible woman and mother. Always there for her family. Married Keith McClain Cobb (Mack) March 10, 1966, in Florida and moved a few years later to Texas, she enjoyed racing sports cars with her husband and friends, then learned to fly becoming a small aircraft pilot and member of the all-women’s pilot association the 99s founded by Amelia Earhart. In her mid-thirties she learned to ice skate with her daughter and competed for fun ice dancing, leading into learning ballroom and country line dancing. She worked for places like Honeywell, Forney Engineering, Texas Instruments, but her longest career was with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as an administrator of the Southern regional office. She coordinated conferences for bright young students in engineering of everything from photovoltaics to automobiles. Her favorite activity of all was driving road tours with family as part of the Dallas Model T Ford Club. She and Mack drove everywhere in those cars. The National Parks of the Southwest and up Pikes Peak were some of her favorites. May she and Mack be on an eternal road trip together.

There will be a life memorial celebration in Dallas with her car club and an open house for her friends in Mineola, announced on her social media. She wished to be cremated so she and my father could spread across the beauty of the southwest on a road trip with family.

Please feel free to send cards or wishes to the family.
