Jonathan Theodore Johnson lovingly known as Ted, born on April 28, 1938, to John S. Johnson and Gudlaug Sigurveig “Veiga” Johnson, passed away on May 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship. He dedicated his life to the art of carpentry, building homes for families and leaving a mark on the community he cherished, and he was always up for a good game of Cribbage. Until the age of 85, Jonathan poured his heart and soul into his work, earning the respect of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ted's character was as warm as the homes he built. Known for his funny, kind, and friendly demeanor, he had an extraordinary ability to make connections with those around him.

In 1985, Ted made the life-changing decision to move to Rains County, where he found not just a place to live, but a home. He embraced the community with open arms. Notably, Ted also possessed the unique skill of speaking fluently in Icelandic, showcasing his eclectic talents and interests.

Above all, Ted took immense pride in his family. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his children and grandchildren, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. He instilled values of hard work, humor, and kindness in them, ensuring that his legacy would continue through their lives.

Ted is survived by his children, Shelly Johnson, Kimberly Johnson, Michael Johnson and his wife, Addy, grandchildren, Theron, Tanner, Kiefer, Kayla, Bailey, Kody, Bradley and their spouses as well as 9 great grandchildren, along with many of his nieces and nephews

He is preceded in death by his parents, John S. Johnson and Gudlaug Sigurveig “Veiga” Kristjansdottir Johnson, brothers Keith Johnson and Sidney Johnson and sister, Edith Mathews and his great grandson Edison.

As we remember Jonathan "Ted" Theodore Johnson, we honor a man who was more than just a builder of homes; he was a builder of relationships, a source of joy, and a loving patriarch. His presence will be dearly missed, but the impact he made in the hearts of his loved ones and the community will endure.

A celebration of life will be held in Ted's honor on, Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 7am – 9am at Sidekicks Bar and Grill in Emory, Texas.
