Joe David Orsborn, a beloved truck driver and dedicated family man, passed away on December 24, 2025, at Christus Hospital in Tyler, Texas. Born on March 24, 1949, to Sparks Orsborn and Jean Nettles Orsborn in Greenville, Texas, Joe David was a proud member of a family with a rich history; he was inspired by his great, great, great grandfather Emory Rains and was surrounded by the legacy of his grandfather, Gus Sr. and two uncles, Gus Jr. and Max, who were legendary sheriffs known for their integrity and the straightforwardness of a handshake.

With over 30 years of experience on the road, Joe David earned accolades for his trucking career, finishing the distinguished million-mile safety award—an impressive testament to his dedication and professionalism.

Known for his infectious grin and magnetic personality, Joe David was a man full of life, characterized by his honesty, wit, and fun-loving nature. He had a reputation for telling it like it was and was cherished by all who knew him. His interests reflected his spirited lifestyle; he loved rodeo, John Wayne, George Jones and the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in farming and spending time at home with his family.

Joe David is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Orsborn, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years. He is also survived by his sons, Terry Shelton and wife Stephanie, Vic Smith and wife Lisa, and Gary Don Smith and wife Adrianna. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Maddie, Aiden, Tyler, Trevor, Brianna, Gabriel, and Dario; sister, Mary Lynn Vasser, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends he cherished.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sparks and Jean Orsborn; son, Paul Sparks Orsborn; brothers, Paul Sparks Orsborn and Tommy Gus Orsborn.

A graveside service to honor Joe David’s life will take place at Emory City Cemetery in Emory, Texas, on December 31, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM. Joe David Orsborn will be remembered as a beloved figure, a devoted family man, and a friend to many, embodying the values of loyalty and love throughout his life.
