With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we remember James Melvin Vinson IV, lovingly known to many as “Bubba J,” who was born on May 29, 1996, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to James Melvin Vinson III and Jacqueline Street Vinson. He left us on April 13, 2026, in Emory, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

James was a beacon of light to all who knew him, truly someone who could light up every room he entered. Outgoing and hardworking, he carried a big heart that beat with a deep desire to ensure others were happy. His vibrant personality and generosity made a lasting impression, a testament to the incredible person he was.

A true lover of the outdoors, James’s passions revolved around hunting and fishing. These interests weren’t just hobbies; they were a way he connected with nature and those he cared about. His daughter, Chevy, stood as his proudest accomplishment, the shining joy of his life. The bond they shared was one of his greatest treasures.

Among the many cherished memories of James are the times he introduced Kimberly to new adventures, taking her noodling for the first time, going four-wheeling and fishing together, and the unforgettable moment he took her hunting. Although she didn’t shoot the pig, James cherished their shared experience so much that he made sure she claimed it, a humorous and heartfelt reminder of their connection and his love for teaching life’s lessons.

James’s spirit was imbued with warmth and kindness, traits that drew people close and created a community around him. He was a man who gave freely of himself, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

James is survived by his daughter, Chevy Vinson; mother, Jaqueline Street Vinson; sister, Kimberly and Scott Dyer; grandparents, Teresea Vinson, James Melvin Vinson II, Jean Vinson; aunts and uncles, Franklin and Miracle Lovell and kids, Shannon and Shannon Vinson and kids, Susie and Adam Martin, Ronnie Lovell, Shantel Vinson; cousins, Alix Vinson, Liv Vinson, Lexi Vinson; nieces and nephews, Baylee, Scarlett, Nova, Daxton; close friends, Westin and Heather Garner, as well as numerous other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Melvin Vinson III; grandparents, Judy and Ronnie Lovell and James Melvin Vinson.

As we say goodbye to James Melvin Vinson, we hold tight to the love, joy, and vibrant energy he gave to the world. His memory will forever be a guiding light, reminding us to live with the same passion and care he showed every day. Rest peacefully, Bubba J—you are deeply missed and forever loved.
