Ivory Joe "Bucky" Jackson, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on November 22, 2023, at Christus Hospital in Sulphur Springs. He was born on February 18, 1959, in Rains County, Emory, Texas to the proud parents Leon Jackson and Bettie Heard Jackson. His Service will be held Friday, November 24, 2023, starting with a visitation at 2:00 pm, funeral service at 3:00 pm and Interment at Prairie Grove Cemetery to follow. Officiating will be Apostle Dwight Smith and Reverend Bobby Thomas.
Known by Bucky to his friends, Ivory Joe had an infectious personality that brightened the lives of all who knew him. His laughter and genuine love for life were contagious. He was always there to lend a helping hand and brought joy to everyone he encountered.
Ivory Joe was a self-employed individual who possessed an array of skills. A true Jack of all trades, he tackled any task with determination and skill. No matter what job he took on, Ivory Joe dedicated himself wholeheartedly to provide the best service possible.
A dedicated family man, Ivory Joe cherished his loved ones above all else. He went above and beyond to ensure they felt supported and loved. Each morning, Ivory Joe would send heartfelt texts to his family members, expressing his affection and letting them know they were on his mind. His family meant the world to him, and he made sure they felt it every single day.
Ivory Joe's sense of humor was legendary among his friends and family. He loved playing jokes and pranks that would leave everyone in stitches. Laughter filled the air whenever Ivory Joe was around, as he had a knack for lightening up any room with his witty remarks and quick comebacks.
In his free time, Ivory Joe indulged in various hobbies and interests. He enjoyed working out and bodybuilding, which demonstrated his commitment to taking care of himself physically. Boxing was another passion he held close to his heart. He found inspiration in watching action movies, particularly those featuring Bruce Lee's awe-inspiring martial arts skills. Ivory Joe was also proud to have achieved a black belt in karate, a testament to his dedication and discipline.
Ivory Joe will forever be remembered as a charismatic and outgoing individual who touched the lives of countless people. His infectious smile, warm heart, and caring nature made an indelible impact on those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
He is survived by his father, Leon Jackson and Verta Jackson; his children, Kriszy Murray, Chris and Kaylee Jackson, Corey Jackson, Colby and Nisi Jackson, Brittany Jackson and Montana, Whitney and Chad Balfour, Jessvon Jackson; grandchildren, Airun Dunn, Kevin Sparks, Major Riley, Coryn Jackson, Gabby Jackson, Chloe Jackson, Alexie Castillo, Brooklynn Jackson, Mia Jackson, Avery Jackson, Alora Kiszer, Beckham Balfour; brothers, Cleon Jackson, Tony Jackson, Karon Jackson, Jerry Jackson, Evender Jackson, Lynn Jackson, Donnie Jackson, Ronnie Jackson, Timothy Jackson, Tommy Jackson; sisters, Bettie Jo Jackson, Lavounda Jackson, Jessica Jackson; step-brother and sister, Roger Briggs, Judy Briggs, Gloria Briggs as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Bettie Jackson; brother, Kaywood Abernathy; grandmother, Gracie Jackson and grandparents.
Ivory Joe's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends who were lucky enough to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in eternal peace.
