George Parten

January 3, 1942 — July 7, 2025

Emory

George Jesse Parten III, born on January 3, 1942, in El Paso, Texas to George Jesse Parten Jr and Mizelle Parten (Hodge). Passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. George was raised in Garland, Texas where he chose to raise his own family. He dedicated 35 years of his professional life to the insurance industry, primarily with General American Life. Once retired he fulfilled his dream of living in a log house on the lake. He was known for his easy-going nature and the ability to make others feel at ease in his presence.

George was characterized by his laid-back demeanor, calm approach to life, and an unwavering love for his family. He took great pride in the bonds that he created with both family and friends where you would find him on or around the lake with probably a cold beverage in his hand. His proudest accomplishment was being Poppy to his three beautiful grandchildren that he loved spending time with and instilling his love for the water.

In addition to his dedication to his family, his love for the outdoors shone through in his enjoyment of fishing, bird hunting and traveling. He was also an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and Texas Rangers. If you didn’t catch him at a game or watching it on tv you could probably find him at the horse track betting on the ponies.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Parten; children Jeffery Allen Parten and wife Tricia; Julie Parten Squiers and husband Larry; grandchildren, Ashley Parten, Kayley Parten and Cole Squiers. George is preceded in death by his parents, George Jesse Jr and Mizelle Parten (Hodge).

Though George has departed from this life, his spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew him. His kindness, caring and genuine warmth will forever remain a guiding light in the lives he touched.
