Florence Barker

December 27, 1940 — July 6, 2019

Laverne Barker, age 78, of Penrose, CO, formerly of Emory, TX, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, CO. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory, TX. Curt Drake will officiate. Visitation will be Friday night, July 12, 2019, 7:00-9:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Creagleville Cemetery in Grand Saline.

Laverne was born on December 27, 1940, in Norman, OK, to the parentage of James Sidney and Leona Cottrell Houck. She married Jimmie Lee Barker, in Dallas, on April 20, 1962. She resided in the Emory area and raised their family up until 2008, when she moved to CO. Laverne worked as a woodworker, and a cabinet maker for most of her life. She always loved to tinker in her shop and create beautiful things with her hands...and she worked in her shop until just recently...she still has unfinished projects there. She cherished her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren...she loved to spoil them rotten! Laverne was of the Baptist faith. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Daughter: Levonda Warren (Kenny) of Eustace;

Son: Sidney Barker (Diane) of Casper, WY;

Brothers: James Houck (Connie) of Tecumseh, OK and Lewis Houck of Yukon, OK;

Sister: Margie Litting (Don) of Lawton, OK;

Grandchildren: Brittany, Zabrina, Jason Wayne, Jason Dwayne, LeAmber, Amanda, and Kenny, Jr.;

Great-grandchildren: Matthew, Samantha, Cheylee, Kadien, Kaydance, and Noah;

Numerous other loving family and friends.
