Erma Young, a former dedicated member of the Emory Fire Department and a beloved figure in her community, passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on January 25, 1964, to Erma devoted her life to serving others, exemplifying a spirit of kindness and strength that touched the lives of many.

Erma received a certificate in firefighting from Texas A&M, paving the way for a proud career that would see her not only protect her community but also serve as a role model for countless individuals. Her commitment to her profession and her unyielding determination earned her the respect and admiration of her peers and the community she served so diligently.

Throughout her life, Erma was known for her caring and loving nature. As her partner, Rusty, lovingly remarked, "she was wonderful." These words encapsulate the essence of Erma's personality—she was a strong and independent woman who always sought to uplift those around her.

Erma’s proudest accomplishments included raising her five sons and one daughter on her own, a challenge she met with grace and love, always ensuring her family knew they were her priority. Her legacy will forever be entwined with the values of perseverance and compassion she instilled in her children.

Erma found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. She had a love for fishing, spending afternoons at home surrounded by her beloved cats, and an enduring love for horses and barrel racing. Additionally, she enjoyed hunting for unique treasures at yard sales, embracing the excitement of each find.

She is survived by her common law husband, Rusty Frost; children, Al Tadlock Jr., Stephanie Renee Smith, Corey Zimmerman, Cody Sims, Christopher Sims, Jacob Faulkner; grandchildren, Zane Zimmerman, Ricky Joe Sims, Brianna Hayes, Reina Frost, Rebella Frost and Bella; Daughter-in-laws, Amy Lee Luttrell, Katrina Frost, as well as her beloved cats, Spooky, Blu, Little Girl and Pugsly.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Jackie Hooford, Terry Lewers and her brother Larry Young.

Erma Young will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of dedication and love for others will continue to inspire, reminding everyone of the profound impact one person can have in their community.
