Obituary

Apostle Dwight Corneilus Smith was born September 12, 1958, in Emory, Texas. To the late R.P. Smith and Luetisha McMillian. He peacefully passed away on March 19, 2026, in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Affectionately known by many as “Baby” and “Uncle Harry”. Apostle Smith was dearly loved by family, friends and all who knew him.

Apostle Smith received his education at Rains High School and continued his studies at Tyler Junior College. He later answered the call to ministry and faithfully served as Pastor of Jacksonville Church of Deliverance, where he dedicated his life to preaching, teaching and, sharing the love, grace and, mercy of God with all who crossed his path.

He will be remembered for his strong faith, compassionate heart and, unwavering commitment to serving others. Whether through a word of encouragement, a heartfelt prayer or a warm smile, Apostle Smith made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his sisters: Florestine Karnegy of New York, Johnie Newhouse of Dallas, Texas, Velma Johnson of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Gannie (Travis) Stenline of Emory, Texas, Lynda Boyce of Emory, Texas, Gwendolyn (Troy) Savage of Mineola, Texas; special aunts, Nellis Grace Summerfield and Annie ruth Pickrom; special cousin, Zola Faye Franklin. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and dear friends.
