March 16, 1942 – January 2, 2026
Charlie Braswell passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 16, 1942, Charlie lived a life full of laughter, love, and service. He proudly served as an Army medic during the Vietnam War.
When God made Charlie, He broke the mold. He was the kind of person everyone loved being around. He was warm, funny, had a playful spirit and his mischievous grin was always a giveaway that something funny was coming. He was a natural problem-solver, could fix nearly anything and proudly passed both his skills and love of life on to his children.
Charlie shared 63 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Ann Braswell, who remained by his side until the very end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Doris Braswell; his infant son, Michael; and his sisters, Audrey Calvert and Sherry Vallier.
He is survived by his wife Ann; his sister Joyce Kafer; his children Lisa Garner, Melissa Hopkins (husband Paul), and Craig Braswell; his grandchildren Tyler Hatzenbuehler, Paige Garner, Austin Hatzenbuehler, and Ryndee Braswell; and great grandchildren Nora Hatzenbuehler and Crosby Hatzenbuehler.
Charlie’s laughter may be gone, but the joy he brought to so many will always remain.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on January 8, 2026, at 11 A.M at Emory Baptist Church in Emory, Texas. A visitation will be held an hour prior at 10 A.M at Emory Baptist Church. A private family burial will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
