Catherine Hope Garner Bussell, born on March 7, 1951 to Roland and Christine Garner in Dallas, Texas, gracefully departed this world on May 20, 2025, in Richardson, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and warmth that touched the lives of so many. Throughout her life, Catherine embodied the essence of a nurturing spirit, finding comfort in caring for others—qualities that defined both her personal and professional life.
Catherine's career began in the trucking industry, where she co-owned a company with her husband, Robert Bussell. However, after their divorce, she made a courageous decision to embark on a new journey. Embracing the challenge, she pursued her nursing degree at TJC, graduating with pride and stepping into a calling that would bring her immense fulfillment for the next two decades. As a nurse, she embodied compassion and grace, comforting her patients and making their well-being her utmost priority. Her proudest accomplishment, however, remained her family—a reflection of her loving spirit that always put them first.
Catherine was a devoted mother. She always made it a priority to be there for drop-offs and pick-ups, celebrations and milestones. Catherine took every opportunity to create cherished memories—whether it was sharing a chili cheese wraps and slushies from Braum’s or Sonic, or engaging in her favorite pastimes: crocheting, crafting, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. She had a talent for transforming simple activities into joyous experiences through her creativity and care.
One of her most treasured possessions was her photo albums, which documented the countless moments and milestones of her family’s life. Her dedication to these albums was so deep, that she would have been willing to risk her life to safe them.
Described by those who knew her as loving, sweet, and inherently family-oriented, Catherine was a servant at heart—She had the ability to connect with everyone she met, and her love extended far beyond her immediate family to embrace all those fortunate enough to cross her path. Coupled with her passion for nurturing babies and puppies, she embraced life's simple pleasures.
She is survived by her children, Rip Bussell, Tina Bussell Herring, Rett Bussell; grandchildren, Hunter Bussell, Haydn Herring, Theo Bussell, Clay Herring, Darby Bussell, Henley Bussell, Landry Bussell; great grandchildren, Emory Bay Bussell, Briggs Roan Bussell and brother, Van Timothy Garner.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, Roland Garner and Christine Garner and brother, Roland Garner Jr.
Catherine Bussell's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved, a timeless reminder of the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the joy that can be found in both the common and extraordinary moments of life. She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered for the unconditional love she shared and the indelible mark she left on the world.
