It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Cary Wayne Collins, who peacefully departed this world on March 16, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on April 6, 1938, in Le Mars, Iowa, Cary was the beloved son of Wayne Oliver Collins and Faye Margaret Nash.

Cary's early years were grounded in the heartland of Iowa. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1956. This is where he developed a love for mathematics, a passion he pursued academically at Colorado State University. Upon earning his bachelor's degree, Cary embarked on a remarkable career that led him around the world as a project manager for Rockwell International, where he contributed his intellect and leadership to the development of satellite and navigation systems for submarines. Cary's work not only showcased his extraordinary intelligence but also his dedication to innovation and excellence.

In 1956, Cary married the love of his life, Carolyn Jane Mallette, in a heartfelt ceremony in their hometown of Le Mars. Together, they wove a tapestry of love, adventure, and laughter over nearly seven decades, raising six sons who were his pride and joy: Ray (Sue), Curt (Donna), Stewart, Vincent (Mona), Anthony (Tracy), and Ted (Rhonda). His legacy lives on through his 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring love and wisdom he imparted.

Cary was also a cherished brother to Ted Lee (Malinda), Suzanne (Clifford) Berreth, Kathleen (Robert) Feller, Jill Collins, Jack Collins, and Priscilla (Curt) Strathman, and sister-in-law Karen Collins. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Nancy, Kay and Mary Gay, and his brother Timothy.

A man of many interests, Cary found joy in coaching his sons' little league teams, delighting in the simple pleasures of sportsmanship and familial bonds. His love for sports extended beyond the field, as he was an avid spectator who reveled in the camaraderie and excitement of the games. Cary also cherished moments spent on the water, fishing and traveling the world.

Cary possessed a sharp wit and a good sense of humor, qualities that endeared him to friends and family alike. His intelligence was matched by his ability to find joy in the everyday, and his sarcastic humor often brought laughter to those around him.

A service to celebrate Cary's life will be held on March 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Emory Baptist Church, 260 Planters St, Emory, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather in memory of a man who lived with purpose, loved without bounds, and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Cary Wayne Collins will be dearly missed but fondly remembered- a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His life was a testament to love, dedication, and the joy of simple pleasures. In honoring his life, we celebrate a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us all.
