William "Bill" Reeves Baldwin

He was a big teddy bear with a gift for storytelling, a sharp sense of humor, and the kind of wisdom that made him a trusted presence in the lives of others.

William “Bill” Reeves Baldwin, of Yantis, Texas, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Winnsboro at the age of 82. He was born on October 26, 1943, to Leroy and Clara (Reeves) Baldwin, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Bill lived a life marked by hard work, devotion, and a remarkable ability to master whatever he set his mind to. He graduated from Waggener High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and went on to attend Georgetown College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Plant Science in 1961. He first worked as a butcher at Winn Dixie and continued to excel in the field until he retired as a sales manager. Even after retirement, Bill continued working at Burnett Construction, reflecting the steady work ethic and determination that shaped his life.

He also served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserves from 1968 to 1973. That service was one more expression of reliability, discipline, and sense of responsibility that those around him knew so well. His service reflected his love for our country, his determination, dedication and hard work.

Bill will be remembered as generous, smart, witty, and a wonderful neighbor and friend. He was a big teddy bear with a gift for storytelling, a sharp sense of humor, and the kind of wisdom that made him a trusted presence in the lives of others. He was very detailed and seemed able to learn how to do anything. Those who loved him knew that Lyn could talk him into just about anything, and that truth was rooted in the deep affection he carried for her.

His love for Lyn was one of the defining parts of his life.

Among the accomplishments that meant the most to Bill were his 57-year marriage to Lyn and his fishing lure business, Bubba Baits. His love for Lyn was one of the defining parts of his life. He was her caregiver and loved her with all his heart, offering her faithful care and devotion in a way that spoke clearly of his character and the depth of their bond.

Bill is survived by his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Sauza and Zach; brother, Bobby Baldwin; sisters and brothers in law, Ron and Lori Fallon, Kevin and Amy Oriley; nieces and nephews, Erin Slaby and Bob, Katie Taylor and Janson, Jonathon Slaby, Addison Taylor, Maggie Oreilly and Keegan Oreilly. Special thanks to neighbor and close friend, Floris Holbrook, who donated her time, love and wonderful caregiving to Bill in his last months. Floris was a lifesaver and liaison to the family. Also, gratitude to the steady visits of neighbors and friends who kept Bill's spirits up more than you know.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Lyn Baldwin; son Jeremy Baldwin and his parents, Leroy and Clara Baldwin.
