Albert L Stone, a remarkable individual whose life was marked by academic excellence, patriotic service, and profound contributions, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Feb 24, 2024 due to complications from a fall at his home.

 

Born with a thirst for knowledge, Albert excelled academically from a young age. He achieved the prestigious title of Valedictorian at his high school at the remarkable age of 16, showcasing his intellectual prowess and dedication to learning.

 

At the age of 17, driven by a deep sense of duty and patriotism, Albert made the decision to enlist in the United States Navy. Determined to serve his country, he embarked on a journey to seek knowledge that would define much of his life.

 

The Navy recognized Albert's exceptional talents and promised him a scholarship to Duke University in exchange for his enlistment. True to his commitment, Albert joined the esteemed ranks of the Duke Basketball team, demonstrating not only his academic acumen but also his athletic prowess on the court.

 

After his service in the Navy, Albert pursued a distinguished career with the Boeing Company, where he served as the test manager for the Saturn V rocket that launched astronauts to the Moon on the Apollo missions. His expertise and dedication played a crucial role in the success of these historic endeavors. Subsequently, he served as the test manager for the Lunar Roving Vehicle on subsequent missions until the Apollo missions ended.

 

Following his retirement from Boeing, Albert and his wife Juanita Melvin Stone embarked on a new venture, founding and managing a successful greenhouse business. Together, they cultivated plants for local stores and chains, leaving a lasting impact on their community.

 

After their greenhouse business, Albert and Juanita relocated to Texas, where they fulfilled their shared dream of starting an Arabian Horse farm. Their passion for horses brought them joy and fulfillment in their later years.

 

Throughout their journey together, Albert and Juanita raised four children and welcomed five grandchildren into their lives. Their love and devotion to family were unwavering, leaving a legacy of warmth and compassion that will endure for generations.

 

Albert Stone's life was a testament to the power of intellect, courage, and service. He leaves behind a legacy of excellence and honor that will continue to inspire generations to come. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

 

In accordance with Albert's wishes, a private memorial service for family only will be held to celebrate his life.
